Well it's been a while since anyone has posted here, so I thought I'd give it a go.

Bee, love what I can see of your new do. The ear is cute, too.

As to the paucity of posts, it's almost Christmas and I have the whole house decorated. Last time anyone was on here, they were waiting for Thanksgiving! Come on, folks let us know what you're doing.

Absom, you've got your house decorated? Good on ya, I haven't even started. I'm baking cookies for the Shaw AFB Airmen's Cookie Drive, so far ten dozen ginger cookies -- the recipe was only supposed to make seven, I have no idea what happened -- five dozen peanut butter cookies, and six dozen toll house cookies. I'm doing drop cookies tomorrow.

Maybe I'll get time to decorate this weekend. I should probably dust first.

Monday night I helped out with a local Catholic elementary school's Christmas program. I was one of the musicians. I boofed a few things but nobody seemed to mind. It was a bit nerve-wracking. There were only three of us, the woman in charge of the music who was on keyboard, a fellow who showed up the night of the performance (wasn't available for rehearsals) to play the viola and he had to have been a professional, he was absolutely marvelous, and me on flute. I kept having to remind myself that nobody was there to listen to me, they were there for the kids, but I had a microphone in my face all night long and it was distressing. The kids, however, were wonderful.

Today the ensemble we've made up of a few band members (there are four of us now so I guess we're a quartet at the moment) went to the Daughters of the American Revolution luncheon in town and played a couple things for them. We played a Bach fugue, and it's very confusing, lots of different things happening all at once. I won the race to the last measure, unfortunately. That is, I got there before anybody else did and had to hang around until they caught up. If anybody else noticed they didn't say anything. They fed us, and the food was terrific. And we each got a goodie bag with a little packet each of gourmet coffee and a fruitcake.

I still have to finish Christmas shopping. Yuck.

Sorry I haven't been around much lately. School is racing toward the conclusion of the semester and I have been beeing a good student.

We did take time out on Dec. 1 for the EBC Christmas party. I took Aaron with me and wouldn't you know that he won the grand prize of a 19" color tv!

As for Christmas... call me old-fashioned, but I still refuse to get into much of the spirit until after my birthday. So, no tree and almost no decorations yet, but I hope to get something done next weekend. I do have lights in one window. I went out and bought one of those mesh/grids of lights designed to be draped over shrubbery. It looks good hanging in my window! Maybe I'll leave it up for a few years... I've done it before. :-?

The hair is growing out and has already reached the point where it tends to look a little lumpy in places. Another month and it will start to actually curl again. I'd keep it short if it weren't for the fact that my head gets cold just sitting in the living room, let alone when I go out into the weather.

Aaron insisted that I open one of the presents he brought over tonight (birthday is tomorrow). I picked the one that was slightly larger than a video. "O, Frabjous Day! Callou, Callay!" It's the biiiig box of crayons--96 colors! I love it. Aaron wants to find a science fiction coloring book so we can spend an afternoon sharing quality time with the crayons. *smile* It's great to have a teen who appreciates the small pleasures that life offers.

You know, I think the change does make this site load faster. Hmmm....

My latest news: I tested for and got my purple belt in karate last night. That's the fourth level. Then comes blue, then green, then brown, then black. Maybe in 20 years I'll get to brown. Anyway, I'm not quite clueless anymore, and that's a relief.

Also, I sent in an article to an online magazine for consideration for publication. Keeping my fingers crossed....

And this is heresy, but... I've decided I've done all the decorating for Christmas I'm going to do. That means the outside only. Inside, no tree, no garland, no mantlepiece lights, no poinsettias, no nothing. Well, that's not quite true. I am putting up the Christmas cards we're receiving (although I still haven't sent any, yes, we're going to be late), but I'm not doing anything else. Too much trouble and I don't feel like fooling with it. I asked my husband today if he'd be bothered by me not decorating and he looked at me like he thought I'd lost my mind. The year I was in Korea our house didn't get the first Christmas decoration up -- he couldn't care less. So, that's actually something of a relief. I do love it when the decorations are up, they're lovely to look at, but oh what a pain to put them up and take them down. I just can't deal with it this year.

I am baking cookies and candy out the ying-yang, so I think that counts for something. I send them with hubby to work for his people. I need all the good karma I can get.
